Regulatory update
NIB in Ghana
Regulatory status and future directory of Bank of Ghana–licensed Non-Interest Banking institutions.
Current regulatory status
The Bank of Ghana finalised its Non-Interest Banking guidelines in December 2025. The framework allows for full-fledged non-interest banks or NIB "windows" within existing banks. Several financial institutions are conducting due diligence and preparing to apply for licences, with a view to launch NIB in early 2026. As of early 2026, no specific names of commercial banks applying for NIB windows have been formally gazetted; the regulator has confirmed strong interest from multiple players. NIB services will be based on non-interest principles and, according to the Bank of Ghana, will be open to all — not restricted by religion.

This directory will list BoG-licensed NIB institutions once they are gazetted. Until then, we do not name or imply that any specific bank has applied or been approved.
